How do I get from the airport to the city?

It's very simple really! There is a bus to the city center (Route 50) and of course taxis at a convenient price - about 22RON.

Is Iasi a safe city?

The violence percentage is extremely low in Iaşi, and crimes are extremely rare, especially compared to the large Western cities and to the recent events in Europe. You must be careful however of pickpockets who often choose tourists as their targets, but this is really to think of everywhere you go!

During spring and autumn, the weather in Iaşi is very pleasant and mild. During the summer however, we found that, in the last couple of years, the city is very hot and dry. And lastly during winter, the temperature can drop drastically and the wind can blow heavily, requiring appropriate clothing (such as gloves, scarves, beanies, hooded clothes and warm and comfortable shoes).

Absolutely! In our opinion, this is the best way to discover and experience our city. Although Iasi is the third largest city in Romania, it can be easily done by foot.

Do I have to book a restaurant really early in advance so that i can enjoy a good quality?

Not necessarily. Even very select restaurants do not require an advance reservation but, depending on the restaurant, we advise you to make a quick phone call. During our CityID tours, the 6 hour long ones, either lunch or dinner will be taken care by us and included in the rate (should you wish one) and we will make sure you will enjoy a great meal in trendy or traditional restaurants.

What are the best places for shopping?

There are different places where you can shop! Palas Mall, Iulius Mall, Felicia Center, our main street - Stefan cel Mare. Take your pick!

In what areas of the city are you conducting the CityID tours?

CityID covers with its tours almost all major areas of the city, it really depends on what you want to see! Feel free to browse the pages of the website to discover the many possibilities from which to choose!

Our tours are private only in the sense that the group is small and has its own dedicated storyteller whose expertise is tailored to the needs and interests of each guest member. Also, the tours are organized under a specific program chosen by the group (dates and times). CityID tours are also private when it comes to our family programs (especially for those groups with children under 12, no larger than 8 people per group). More than 8 guests per group are exceptional circumstances (eg, student groups ...) and are organized on request.

Who runs the tours?

CityID storytellers are focused on a variety of fields, including art history, literature, history, dramatic arts, and gastronomy. Many of them are holders of a master's degrees or PhD in their field and have completed courses in these types of narrative tours.

I am on your website and I want to book a tour. What should I do next?

Browse the website, find what you like and click on the price! It’s as simple as that! You will then fill in a booking form and receive an email from CityID within two business days. A CityID operator will then send you the details for the payment (according to the type you chose), meeting point, your storyteller and (if applicable) try to learn more about your preferences and your needs to further customize the tour. If among your preferences, something is not available, we will get in touch and see what we can do!

What if I have to cancel my tour?

The walking tours may be canceled in writing, to our email address. The cancellation is free of charge if done at least 48 hours before the scheduled date of the tour. Some tours, however, such as those by standard or vintage car, can only be canceled free of charge 72 hours before the event since putting them together is somewhat more complex.

Cancellations less than 48 hours are considered no-shows and are non-refundable. However, cancellation terms will be specified in the email we will send you, before the payment is done.

Also, very important! Tours can take place on any kind of weather - sunny or rainy, obviously with the necessary configurations. Please have this in mind!

If you are late to the scheduled rendez-vous, please notify our storyteller. In the email at the time of the booking you will be given the storyteller’s phone number (to use only for emergencies or to notify him/her that you are being late).

Please note that if you fail to notify that you are going to be late we will consider your absence as a last minute cancellation and the tour will be non-refundable.

Why do you want to know my age?

Well, to customize the tours and to adjust them in relation to your preferences, of course! Our team wants to know more about yourself, your interests and expectations. Also, really important for the family tours, as the storyteller will have different approaches depending on the children’s ages. Moreover, for your convenience, we will book admission tickets to the monuments and museums before the tour. This means that, in some cases, discounts may apply depending on the age of the participants.

How big are the CityID groups?

Our CityID tour groups are limited to a maximum of eight (8) people, which is why we call them small groups. The only exception to this rule is Iashi'scool tours for students. These ones can go up to 12 people with one guide. We will of course accept student classes, but they will have to be split into different tours with different guides.

We genuinely think that it is very hard to create a true and instructive relationship with an uninterrupted flow of information with larger groups.

Do groups require a minimum of participants to be confirmed?

Not all of them. However, the family tours do require a minimum of two (2) guests. These types of tours focus on the child and he/she must have a parent accompanying him.
